Smartest country?

At my faculty meeting today our principal was discussing education in this country. She was saying something about other countries and that they are trying to take over the U.S's title as smartest country. I was only half listening but a little comment from a teacher behind me woke me from my stupor.

"It's already been took."

And no, she was not trying to be funny. And yes, she teaches children everyday. And no, I did not turn around and correct her. I sat in my seat, bit my tongue and seriously considered moving to another country.
